Brief History of BlackBerry

BlackBerry is one of the largest and most popular smart phones, software for business and accessory company in the world. BlackBerry products and service are used by millions of people all over the world so they can stay connected to each other and stay informed about matters that are important to them day after day. Their product unique styles and design set them apart from the rest. BlackBerry design and manufactures a variety of phones and most recent new BlackBerry Playbook.
BlackBerry was developed and designed by Research In Motion (RIM) founder Mike Lazaridis in 1997, providing wireless internet enabled devices using multiple networks. RIM is a global leader in wireless innovation and transformed the mobile industry with this introduction. RIM is a Canadian based company founded in 1984 that has worked with RAM and Ericsson by developing a two-way pager system and wireless email network for BlackBerry

In 2003, the most commonly know BlackBerry Smart phone was released which supported push email, mobile telephone, text messaging, internet browsing and other wireless information services. They made their mark in the marketplace by placing their focus mainly on email. RIM recently offers Blackberry email service to non-BlackBerry devices for example the Palm Treo using the BlackBerry Connect software.
The first BlackBerry phone had only one color display, but all the current models have color displays. All the phones are optimized for “thumbing” (use of thumbs only) to type. The built in QWERTY keyboard and the track pad or trackball puts the device in a class of its own. Unique applications such as BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), super apps which allows one to integrate with the push technology of BlackBerry. It allows customers to interact within the application or the messaging feature in real time connection. A BlackBerry gives back 60mins in a day to it customers because of the real time connection and the push technology.
Over the years, BlackBerry has 600 couriers worldwide, over 30 million BBM users; over 2 million downloads daily and is currently in over 200 countries. BlackBerry has introduced the world to a variety of new and unique design in the model of phones for the different phone networks. The newest model, BlackBerry Torch 9800 was introduced in August 2010 and has become one of the company’s famous smart phones, along with the Bold 9700. The BlackBerry Torch is the first slider phone which also has a full QWERTY keyboard which BlackBerry is famous for. According to Nielsenwire.com report on May 31, 2011, BlackBerry is the 3rd largest smart phone company behind Apple and Android respectfully. However Android is not a smart phone.
